BioPAT® Trace Calibration solution 4g Glc/2g Lac
The BioPAT® Calibration Solution 4 (4g Glucose / 2g Lactate) is part of the BioPAT® Trace and Multi Trace system. It contents 0.5 Liter. The biosensor in BioPAT® Trace requires a 2-point calibration with one calibration solution right below the range one wants to measure and one right above that range. Calibration happens both before the start of the measurement and regularly during the process in an automated fashion. The right choice of the calibration solutions depend on the process. For a glucose measurement between 4 g/L and 7 g/L the right choice of solutions would be Calibration Solution 4 (4g Glc / 2g Lac) and Calibration Solution 5 (10g Glc / 5g Lac). The Calibration solution can be used for higher glucose control (1-20 g/L) in Biostat® B, Biostat® B-DCU, Biostat STR® and Biostat® RM.

BioPAT® Trace and BioPAT® Multi Trace require two calibration solutions and a transport buffer to function, and accurately determine the parameter concentration in a sampled vessel. These liquids are connected on the labeled end points of the Tube set and are automatically pumped within the system loop. The calibration solutions include expiration dates to ensure the accuracy and longevity of the system analysis. Various combinations of calibration standard solutions are available to optimally cover the expected concentration cycles. Sartorius recommends connecting a higher concentrated standard than standard 1.
Depending on the process conditions and the objective of the cultivation, various concentration ranges have to be covered. The concentration range should principally be between the concentrations of the standard solutions in order to ensure optimal measuring accuracy. Furthermore, we recommend always choosing a standard with very low concentration in order to properly determine measured values close to zero.
For regulation, the concentrations of the calibration standards should not be too far from the regulation (set)point. For regulation at 1g/L, for example, it is more practical to use a combination of 0.5 g/L and 4 g/L than a combination of 1 g/L and 10 g/L, for example.
