Command unit for active air monitoring with the MD8 Airscan®

The MD8 Airscan® in conjunction with the gelatin membrane filters not only allows the collection of airborne microorganisms, it also enables technicians to capture smallest particles, like viruses.

The command unit is part of the MD8 Airscan®. It operates the air sampler, allows the intake and display of data and stores up to 300 measurements. It is only functional in conjunction with a stainless steel sampling head either Triclamp (16746-01--SHT) or Bayonet version (16746-01--SHB) and a quick connector cable (69898530). One piece of the quick connector cable comes along with the Command unit.

With more than 50 years of experience in air monitoring, the next level of air samplers have been developed to specifically fit the industrial needs in Pharma/Biotech and Food and Beverage. Together with the gelatin membrane filters (GMF) the MD8 family stands for ease of use and quality of results.

A fundamental aspect of cleanrooms and critical zones is to achieve lowest concentrations of airborne particles by reducing their introduction and generation. Measurement for this purpose must be accurate as well as reliable, and must not interfere with the zone protection.

The MD8 Airscan® is a modular air sampling system, consisting of a command unit and a stainless steel sampling head. Both will be connected to each other with a quick connector cable. Due to this design, several sampling heads can be consecutively operated with only one command unit. This saves investment costs. The hermetic design of the sampling head, also allows in-line sterilization of the interior of the sampling head with vaporized hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).

After air sampling with the MD8 Airscan®, the GMF can be either processed directly by transferring it to an agar plate, or dissolution (ca. 6 ml) in any suitable liquid for e.g. PCR, or membrane filtration can be done.
