HEPES buffer is designed for use in open vessels incubated under atmospheric conditions. HEPES (N’-2-Hydroxyethylpiperazine-N’-2 ethanesulphonic acid) behaves as a zwitterion.

The sodium chloride concentration of HEPES buffer has been reduced in order to maintain the same Osmolality of the original media formulations.
